The 2020 NDC Parliamentary Candidate for Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Constituency, Mr Stephen Donkor, has announced a decision to contest for the Regional Secretary position in the Western North on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress.
The young Chartered Accountant hopes to support the economic management and advise the Regional and National Executive Committee on the performance of the party in power and what the NDC intends to do if given the opportunity.
Mr Stephen Donkor appreciated the masses who supported him during the 2020 General elections as Parliamentary Candidate.
“It was such an amazing experience leading the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in 2020’s parliamentary race. I am incredibly grateful to everyone who stood with me and fought until the end. I must also admit that I have learnt valuable lessons from that humbling exploit which will guide me as I chart the next chapter of my political career,”
In a release signed and dated Sunday, October 2, 2022, Mr Stephen Donkor said; “My dear comrades, I have the pleasure to announce to you that after deeper reflection and wider consultations, I have decided to serve as REGIONAL SECRETARY for our party in the WESTERN NORTH REGION as we prepare to annex power from the ailing NPP government,”
According to him, the Umbrella family have derived massive votes from the region in previous elections, but the party has recently lost votes that must be treated as a matter of urgency.
“Throughout past elections, our region has shown tremendous support for the NDC. However, lately, we are seeing a deviation from that paradigm which needs to be addressed as urgently as possible,”
Mr Stephen Donkor highlighted responsibilities that every NDC Regional Secretary must possess to address issues in the party and government in power.
“The Secretary of NDC in the region must be a proactive administrator who because of the position, needs to be a sharp problem solver rather than a normal team player. The secretary should be able to put the government on its toes and should also have the courage to maximize and above all else protect every ballot cast in the party’s favour,”
“As an administrator of a government in waiting, the person has to have a grasp of economic management and the ability to analyze and advise both the Regional and National Executive Committee on the performance of the party in power and what the NDC intends to do differently if given the opportunity,”
“Comrade Stephen Donkor (CA, MBA) stands tall and evidently the right person to coordinate the various functional departments in the region to harmoniously work towards returning the NDC to power in 2024,” he stated.
