It may be recalled that President Nana Akufo-Addo was impatient with the pace of construction on the Agenda 111 hospital project in the Bolgatanga East District of the Upper East Region.
On Friday, August 5, 2022, while in the Upper East Region, the President stopped at the Agenda 111 project in the Bolgatanga East District to check on the status of the construction.
When the President arrived on the scene, he reportedly struggled to contain his rage.
According to reports, the President enquired, somewhat aggressively, about the state of the project., “Adeɛ nu wɔ ɛhe?” To say, “where is it [the Agenda 111]?”
The tour and planned inspection were stopped by the president after he expressed disappointment over the remark, and he then went back to the Presidential Villa at the Regional Minister’s Residence.
There was a rumour that the President’s evident rage and irritation sparked some commotion within the party.
But it has just come to light that the contractor, like all other contractors working on Agenda 111 projects around the nation, received a mobilisation fee of $1 million, which may have been the cause of the President’s ire.
This is according to Andrew Atariwini, a member of the NPP’s communication staff.
“He [the contractor] was paid $1 million for the Zuarungu Agenda 111 mobilization. That is the circumstance. Before you sign the deal, mobilization will cost you $1 million,” Mr. Atariwini said.
“You may check out the project’s $16 million price tag. You mobilize $1,000,000 for use. Was it put to use in any way? When the president came to inspect, you [the contractor] were still at the foundation level, right?” questioned Mr. Atariwni.
