Cairo giants Al Ahly are reportedly lining up an offer to sign Tanzania international Mbwana Ally Samatta in the January transfer window.
Al Ahly are currently on the lookout for a centre-forward as they attempted to acquire DR Congo international Jackson Muleka.
However, their bid was deemed insufficient by Besiktas, who demanded a significantly higher fee for Muleka according to several reports.
As a result, Al Ahly decided to withdraw from the deal and look for other options with Mbwana Samatta emerging as their next target.
Samatta had completed a permanent move to Fenerbahce from Aston Villa back in 2021 and has not settled in Turkey.

The 30-year-old was loaned out to Royal Antwerp and most recently, KRC Genk, where he burst onto the scene after completing a move from TP Mazembe back in 2016.
According to a report by Sporx, Fenerbahce are looking to offload Samatta in the current transfer window as he is out of Jorge Jesus’ plans.
The player is valued at a reported fee of $2.7 million and a potential deal could be feasible for Al Ahly who are desperate for a striker ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup next month.
Samatta has scored just one goal in 15 appearances for Genk in the Jupiler Pro League this season while starting once against Zulte Waregem.
