Former Black Stars gaffer, Charles Kwablah Akonnor, is eyeing a return to Accra Hearts of Oak after 10 years.

Accra Hearts of Oak sacked Samuel Boadu and his backroom staff after they drew 1:1 against Asante Kotoko at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.

Our source indicates that Coach C.K Akonnor is seriously lobbying for the Head Coach vacancy at the capital-based club.

The former coach of Asante Kotoko has summited his document to the Secretariate of Phobians per our source.

Akonnor joined Hearts of Oak in the middle of the 2011/12 season after the club relieved Serbian coach Nebojsa Vucicevic off his duties.

He succeeded in guiding the club to the third position as rivals, Asante Kotoko clinched the title, but his contract was terminated following an emergency board meeting in Accra to review the club’s poor run in the 2012/13 GPL competition.

Coach Charles Kwablah Akonnor hopes to return to Phobia to replicate the tremendous performance he achieved at the African club level in 2019 during his stay at Asante Kotoko.

The Former Black Stars gaffer has previously coached Dreams Fc, Ashanti Gold Sc and Kumasi Asante Kotoko.

However, Accra Hearts of Oak will play ASR Bamako in a CAF Confederation Cup tie, with the first leg set to take place on Saturday, October 8, 2022, at the Stade Bama in Bamako.
