The record-holders were given a difficult start to their African campaign as they were paired with US Monastir, who finished second in the Tunisian league.
On Sunday, October 9, the first leg will take place in Tunisia, while the second leg will proceed a week later in Cairo.
Percy Tau, a South African international who is still recovering from a thigh injury, will be unavailable to Marcel Koller.
The coaching team of Al Ahly, headed by Koller, will prefer to wait until he is fully recovered before inserting him into games, which means he will likely miss the return leg as well.
The team is still hopeful that Percy Tau will be ready for the Egypt Super Cup match against Zamalek on October 28.
