Pupils of Daffiama R/C Kindergarten in the Daffiama-Bussie-Issa (DBI) District of the Upper West Region sit on the floor during class hours for lack of furniture in their classrooms, parents and guardians say.
They noted that the pupils lay on the floor to learn and it negatively affects teaching and learning.
Speaking in an interview with info radio, Mr Kungtwure Denis, a resident, indicated that the situation not only affects teaching and learning but also causes financial losses to parents as they have to wash their wards’ uniforms every day.
He appealed to the DBI District Education Directorate and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) to come to their aid and provide the school with furniture to speed up teaching and learning activities smoothly.
Mr Tendana Stephen, another resident, said the lack of furniture affects the pupil’s health conditions as they always sit on the floor.
He added that the school structure is in a deplorable stage with all windows removed.
He thus called on authorities to come to their aid.
