Egyptian football analyst Khaled Bauomy believes that Mamelodi Sundowns were trying to help Al Hilal in an attempt to eliminate Al Ahly from the CAF Champions League.
Al Hilal played an entertaining 1-1 draw against Mamelodi Sundowns on Matchday five of the CAF Champions League group stage in Omdurman.
Al Hilal’s victory against group B leaders could have confirmed Al Ahly’s elimination, however, a late penalty save from Ronwen Williams kept the Red Devils hopes alive.
Bauomy believes that the South African side wanted to eliminate Al Ahly and tried everything to help Al Hilal secure their place in the quarter-finals
“Sun Downs did everything to help Al Hilal qualify and eliminate Africa’s bogeyman Al Ahly,” Bauomy said on his Twitter account.
“However, God’s will and the prayers of Al Ahly fans stood against the desire of Sun Downs.”
“Soon, the response to heaven’s justice will be seen in the stadium that all Africa fears, the Cairo International Stadium,” Bauomy concluded.
Al-Ahly are currently preparing to meet Al-Hilal in a crucial match that will determine who will join Mamelodi Sundowns in the quarter-finals of the CAF Champions League.
