The former Member of Parliament for Prestea-Huni Valley, Hon. Lawyer Mrs. Barbara Oteng Gyasi, has donated food items and an undisclosed amount of money to Muslims in the constituency, who are preparing to begin the holy Ramadan month of fasting.
The items which included; eight(8) bags of sugar, sixteen (16) cartons of ideal milk, five boxes of Lipton and an undisclosed amount of money were presented to the Chief Imam of Prestea in a short ceremony on Monday, March 20, 2023.
During the presentation, the President of Wassa Hemaa Foundation, Hon. Lawyer Mrs. Barbara Oteng Gyasi indicated that the donation is a demonstration of the brotherly love that exists between her and Muslims in the area and took the opportunity to urge them to continue peaceful co-existence as has persisted in the country through the years.
Receiving the items, the Chief Imam, Imam Abdul Karim Hassan Husien, expressed his heartfelt appreciation for the kind gesture and referred to the various support extended to the Muslim Communities during her tenure as a Member of Parliament.
He made mention of the renovation of Prestea Islamic school, financial support towards the construction of Bouho Mosque, the construction of Prestea Children’s Block, jobs and scholarships for the youth, and annual donation of food items and cash during fasting periods, etc.
Imam Abdul Karim Hassan Husien assured her of their constant support and prayers as the people of Prestea continue to look up to her for developmental projects.
