Former Egypt and Zamalek defender Ahmed Dowidar believes Al Ahly played better under Pitso Mosimane than Marcel Koller.
The Reds continued their perfect start under new manager Marcel Koller as they unconvincingly edged Arab Contractors in the Egypt Cup quarter-finals.
Karim Fouad gave Al Ahly the lead, but the Contractors equalized quickly through John Okoli for the game to go to extra-time then penalties.
Al Ahly scored all their four kicks, but their opponents missed twice, with goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shennawy saving the final one.
Speaking after the game, Dowidar said: “The Arab Contractors were able to achieve victory if they had taken advantage of the chance that was presented to them in the first-half through El-Shimy.
“The Contractors didn’t believe they could beat Al Ahly. The red shirt causes fear for the teams in Egypt.
“If the Contractors had the courage, they would have achieved an easy victory over Al Ahly.
“I see that Al Ahly with Marcel Koller are yet to provide the best technical level, and in my opinion, Pitso Mosimane is better than Koller,” he added.
