Head coach of SuperSport United, Gavin Hunt, claims Orlando Pirates is only side that can wrestle the league title from their rivals Mamelodi Sundowns, as the rest of the clubs are only joking and not aiming to win the South Africa Premier Soccer League.
He said looking at players and materials available at Sundowns and the nonseriousness of the other PSL clubs, it becomes evidently clear that they are not ready for the league title.
“We still aren’t close enough, in my opinion. Just trying to rack up as many points as we can, I don’t believe we are even near. I continue to believe that the only team capable of competing with Sundowns is Pirates. The major competitors are Pirates; the rest of us are joking,” Gavin stated.
Mamelodi Sundowns currently occupies the top spot of the PSL after the 10th week with one outstanding game having played 9 matches with 19 points.
Richard Bay SC, SuperSports United and Kaiser Chiefs occupy the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th spots with 18,17 and 17 points respectively.
Orlando Pirates are 5th on the league log with 15 points, four points clear of Mamelodi Sundowns.
The Buccaneers will play Amazulu at home on Friday in the Premier Soccer League.
