South African manager Pitso Mosimane has sent a message of support to his former club Al Ahly ahead of their Club World Cup campaign.
Mosimane led Al Ahly between October 2020 to June 2022, before terminating his contract to take over fallen Saudi giants Al Ahli Jeddah.
During his time in Cairo, Pitso led Al Ahly to the Egyptian Premier League title, one Egypt Cup, two CAF Super Cups, and a historic three consecutive CAF Champions League finals, of which he won two.
Under the guidance of the Al Ahly legend, the club won two bronze medals in the Club World Cups, and their quest for a third consecutive medal comes thanks to Mosimane himself.
Given Champions League winners Wydad Casablanca were awarded the Club World Cup hosting rights, runner-ups Al Ahly will take part in the competition for the eighth time as per the regulations.
Just days before the Reds’ opening game against New Zealand’s Auckland City, Pitso Mosimane made sure to send a message of support to his former employers as well as Wydad Casablanca.
“Two successful teams that are close to my heart. I have encountered close, personal, warmth from the president and fans of these massive teams,”
“I wish them well and I believe that they will bring back home medals. Dima Wydad, Red Devils,”
