Prestea/Himan has been crowned champions of the maiden edition of the Wassa Hemaa Cup after defeating Aboso/Fantemines 3-2 in the finals at Aboso Astroturf on Sunday.
A group of youth in the Prestea Huni-Valley Municipality organized the tournament to honour Hon. Lawyer Barbara Oteng-Gyasi, the former member of parliament, for her significant contributions to the growth of the Municipality.

Hon. Lawyer Barbara Oteng-Gyasi, who doubles as President of the Wassa Hemaa Foundation, was present with other personalities to witness the great competition.
The competition was held between Saturday, October 8 and Sunday, October 16, 2022, and teams included Bondaye/Nsuta, Prestea/Himan, Awodua/Gordon, Bogoso/Beppoh, Aboso/Fantemines, Insu/Obengkrom, Huni-Valley/Damang, and Nsuem/ Wassa Nkran participated.
Before the finals, Bogoso/Beppoh defeated Huni-Valley/Damang 3-2 to place third in the maiden competition.

The winners Prestea/Himan team were presented with a giant trophy and an undisclosed amount.
However, Christian Quansah of the Aboso/Fantemines team was adjourned as the player of the tournament while Sherrif Raman of Prestea/Himan scored three goals to pick the Goalking award.
Eric Baah won the best goalkeeper award for the champions, Prestea/Himan, for his splendid performance in the competition.
