Reject 2023 ‘Killer’ Budget; It has no hope for the youth – NDC Communication Officer to MP’s

The NDC Deputy Constituency Communication Officer for Wassa Amenfi East, Mr. Thomas Dindiego, has called on both Minority and Majority Members of Parliament to vote against the 2023 budget because the budget provided nothing relief but extreme hardship to the citizens.

Mr. Thomas Dindiego has also described the 2023 budget presented by the Finance Minister as a “Killer Budget” and it provides no hope for the youth of the country.

He said this is because the 2023 budget was expected to provide better economic and life-changing solutions to minimize the current high standard of living but rather provided no hope for the youth in particular. After all, there would be a freeze on employment.

Speaking to Journalists, he reveals that the government intends to freeze public employment as a result of Ghana’s involvement in the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) programme.

He said, the Akufo Addo’s administration through their own 2023 budget, has exonerated former President John Dramani Mahama who was accused by the NPP of imposing a freeze on employment as a directive from the IMF programme.

The Amenfi East NDC communicator defended that such accusations were untrue emphasizing that there wasn’t anything like a freeze on public employment.

He said, despite the IMF programme directives, the erstwhile Mahama administration recruited public service workers to work in various sectors which astronomically reduced the unemployment rate in Ghana.

Mr. Dindiego stressed that the NPP deliberately branded the IMF programme as evil with palpable lies and campaigned against the NDC just to score a political point.

The NDC deputy communication officer also described the government as insensitive for increasing and imposing taxes on its citizens without considering the current unbearable economic conditions affecting Ghanaians.

He said the NDC party is demanding an unqualified apology from President Nana Addo over his decision to increase the Value Added Tax (VAT) by 2.5 per cent in the 2023 budget statement.

He told journalists that it beats his imagination that this is happening when the government is chalking huge sums of money from Ghanaians all in the name of the service taxes.

Thomas Dindiego challenged the President to apologize for leading a deadly and unnecessary demonstration titled “Ku Me Pr3 Ko Demo” to kick against Value Added Tax.

He noted that President Akufo-Addo, who, in opposition, led thousands of Ghanaians to demonstrate against the introduction of VAT, leading to the demise of some innocent people has now shamefully increased the rate to 2.5 percent without any proper justification.

The Wassa Amenfi constituency communication officer made a declaration that the NDC will have to win Election 2024 to alleviate the plight of the citizenry due to the abysmal performance of the current government.
