South African giants Mamelodi Sundowns have reportedly submitted an offer to Al Ahly for the services of Percy Tau.
Tau’s career in Egypt has been hampered by injuries, with the 28-year-old managing just 39 games since his arrival, which saw him score 10 goals.
However, Tau is still considered in Marcel Koller’s plans, who tended to use the South African whenever he is fit to play this season.
Koller also registered Tau in Al Ahly’s Club World Cup squad, which is set to open the campaign against Auckland City on Wednesday night.
But that didn’t stop Mamelodi Sundowns from hoping to bring back Tau to their ranks, with South African news outlet SABC, revealing they had submitted a bid for Al Ahly.
However, SABC went on to state that Al Ahly gave Sundowns no response over the player whose contract runs until June 2024.
Tau has represented Sundowns from January 2014 until July 2018, before making €3.20m move to Premier League club Brighton & Hove Albion.
The 28-year-old has then had loan spells at Belgian clubs Union SG, Club Brugge , and RSC Anderlecht, before joining Al Ahly in August of 2021 for a fee of €1.80m.
