Tanzania giants Simba SC yesterday defeated Dodoma-based side Dodoma Jijima Fc by 3-0 at the famous Benjamin Mkapa National Stadium in Dar es Salaam to climb to the top of the NBC Tanzania Premier League after match day 5 with 13 points.
Right from the blast of the Referee whistle, the home team took an early lead through Dodoma in the 4th minute to unsettle the visitors.
The home side continued to dominate play until Hussein Mohammed, in the 45th minute, located Habib Kyombo to power in the second goal for Simba SC.
After recess, Dodoma Jijima came into the game strongly but could not utilize the numerous chances that came their way.
In the 85th minute, the star man for Simba SC and their top goal scorer Moses Phiri scores a beautiful goal after an assist from Mkude to increase his goal tally to four goals out of five premier league matches as Simba take a 3-0 lead.
Simba now sits top on the table with 13 points plus 9 goals as their bitterest rivals and Tanzania champions Young Africans will today play as visitors against Ruvu Shooting stars at Uhuru stadium in Dar es Saalam.
Young Africans are third on the league table with 10 points plus 6 goals and a win today will see them sharing the top spot with Simba SC.
Namungo FC remains second on the table with 11 points after they drew with Kinondoni MC at home on Saturday.
In the other league matches played, Tiriani-based side Mtibwa sugar drew at home 2-2 with Mbeya city at Manungu stadium.
