Inhabitants of Koforidua in the Eastern Region live in fear and panic as the only bridge that serves as the pathway damage.
The bridge was technically built by the Water Company on the River Densu at their Headworks in Koforidua some decades ago and has since never experienced maintenance.
Technically, there is an inbuilt mechanism that pulls the bridge anytime there is an event of a flood.
For some time now, the bridge has been damaged due to its regular use by the local inhabitants but has not been attended to by authorities.
The situation is currently worsened as the recent downpours flooded the bridge and as a result of the faulty inbuilt mechanism cannot pull out the water.
This has caused a major block of movement by inhabitants of the area which has affected the day-to-day activities within the area.
School children, market women, farmers, and the general public who use the facility live in danger and fear.
They are, therefore, calling on authorities and the government to come to their aid to avert any looming occurrences.
When the situation is not salvaged within the shortest period, the effect will be damning and hence needs urgent attention.
